About VBOT

Opioid addiction is a manageable and treatable condition, necessitating extensive care coordination among providers and resources. In 2017, the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation set forth with a mission to deliver treatment access in underserved areas of North Carolinians, Project VBOT is the result of that effort and has evolved to an addiction treatment model known as Virtual Based Opioid Treatment (VBOT).

In 2023 a coalition of technology and services companies joined to commercialize and scale the VBOT delivery model. The VBOT coalition assembled multidisciplinary "virtual" care teams alongside an array of cutting-edge technologies and services. These “best of breed” collaborators enable the care team to access actionable insights from various channels, while for patients it eliminates barriers to treatment.

VBOT’s MISSION is to connect individuals suffering Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) to:

  • Deliver the latest advances in treatment methods and technology
  • Facilitate patient privacy and empowerment
  • Provide clinician workflow efficiency and risk mitigation
  • Contain treatment cost

VBOT is not a company, but an ecosystem of technologies and services we’ve identified that improves the user experience of both the patients and clinicians AND enhances outcomes and retention. Over the years, VBOT has partnered with industry-leading companies to create the ultimate treatment team. This comprehensive approach ensures the most complete treatment program available in the industry,
